Uniforms:

Leaders and youth members wear a Boy Scout of America uniform because it is a way to identify ourselves openly with the principles and goals to which we are committed:  Character development, citizenship training, and physical and mental fitness.  Wearing a uniform gives the person a feeling of:

Equality:  It represents a democratic idea of equality, bring people of different backgrounds together.

Identification:  It makes us visible in our community, as a good part of it.  It publicly states your commitment to a belief in God, loyalty to country, and to helping other people who need you.

Achievement:  What each youth or adult has accomplished is displayed upon the uniform, a proud way to represent your accomplishments.

The uniform is a reminder to every Scout of their commitment to the ideals and purpose of Boy Scouts of America.  It is an encouragement to take your part in scouting seriously.

Closing:

The Scouting movement is built on positive values.  As we wear the uniform, we are openly identifying ourselves with those values.  We stand together, not alone, in encouraging others to live by those same values:  Citizenship, Compassion, Cooperation, Courage, Faith, Health and Fitness, Honesty, Perseverance, Positive Attitude, Resourcefulness, Respect, and Responsibility.    When you wear your uniform, wear them with pride.  You are a member of the Boy Scouts of America!
