2011 Troop Outing - Hitchcock Nature Center

April 8-10 the Troop went on a campout to Hitchcock Nature Center in Pottawattamie County.  We arrived just at dusk and started to set up camp.  On Saturday, we got up and made baggie omelets and headed for the Nature Center.  After spending an hour or so there we decide to eat our lunch at the Center so that the afternoon could be spent hiking.  This was an opportunity for the boys to get in a 5 mile hike and to enjoy the wonders of the Loess Hills (wind blown silt up to 200 feet deep).  We were spent.  For dinner we had 'Cola' chicken, corn, and monkey bread.  While dinner was cooking several boys worked on their Totin' Chip while the rest of the camp relaxed.  We were wanting a fire that night but the winds keep swirling and storms keep popping up just to the north of us.  Fortunately we didn't get wet but pray for those that did get the weather.
