2010 Pack Trax IThe Pack tried a new event this year. We called it Pack Trax. It was an opportunity for our Scouts to get out during the winter, have fun, and to continue to learn life lessons. Throughout the day, we had 18-20 boys partake in the various activities. We arrived about 9am out at Raccoon Valley Sportsman Club and started with a flag ceremony. The activities were flag etiquette, cold weather survival and shelter building, how to build a fire and made fire starters, home made stoves, understanding the weather, wildlife conservation, Leave No Trace, earn the kickball belt loop, and showed the boys how to hold an honorable flag retirement ceremony. We had several Webelos II complete their Naturalist Pin and couple work on their requirements for their Outdoorsman Pin. This was all followed by a dutch oven cooked meal and campfire. We had 7 boys spend the night to wake up to a baggie omelet breakfast. It was a great time had by ALL! This might just have to happen every year going forward.
